There are more successful MLM’ers than there are professional ball players, but you hardly ever hear anyone saying professional sports doesn’t work. Go figure.

This guy says he has no stake in you joining a scheme, however he sells training videos so that is simply not true. And at $29.95 a month from each person who subscribes, he potentially has a huge stake.
The answer is simple: Value only arguments based on Reasoned Logic.
